I am seeking an experienced Java developer to make some minor changes and upgrades to an previously developed application. This should really only take a few hours if that. I am technical, but have so little experience with Java I figure it will take me a month to figure out the basics. Essentially, this is us merely updating the application for presentation to the clients who have tracked us down after the company we worked for closed. It's essentially the beginning project for something much larger - Help us out here and you may get the call when real dollars are involved...
The minor changes include:
1) Changing the application Name (properties)
2) Changing the Logos
3) Updating the java libraries
4) Re-Running the compile script
5) Add a sub-routine that executes a powershell script that is local on the machine
6) The current application copies files given to it on a config document and uploads them. The bug in this process is that it can't copy files in use. I am told that the simple way around this is to simply create a temporary file copy and upload that. This should not be difficult to change in the existing code.
The instructions provided within the code for the new developer to follow includes the following information (From Code - we will buy these as required):
Prerequisites for build
Install exe4j from sbin/exe4j_windows_4_0_3.exe.
Install Advanced Installer from sbin/advinst.msi.
Get a runtime license for JNIWrapper and copy it to etc/keys/jniwrap.lic.
Get a license for yDoc and copy it to etc/keys/ydoc.license.txt.
Get a license for exe4j. Start the program and click the Change License button to apply it.
Get a license for Advanced Installer. Click on Help/Register to apply it.
See etc/api/overview.html for more information.
Please post the word "SNOWMAN" in your response if you read this, else you are wasting my time and I ignore your proposal ;)
Stage Two: The current system connects to any existing DSN to collect data. The option to extract data from other types of database (SQL Server) needs to be added. - Tags:
