Hi,

I want a Wordpress plugin which will allow me to easily add external related links to any post or page using a shortcode. There are a few existing plugins which do something similar, but nothing works quite to my liking.

Here are the features I want:

- Plugin will work with Google Custom Search API so once installed the user will enter their API key and the custom search ID (cx ID) into the plugin admin page.

- On the plugin admin page the user will also have fields to define the number of related links to display (drop down 1-10) and what should be displayed above the list of related links, eg. "<h4>Related links:</h4>" (text input field allows html).

- To display related links on any given post or page the user simply adds a short code like "[wprelated=KEYWORD_HERE] - KEYWORD_HERE can be any keyword and this will be used to retrieve related links from Google Custom Search API.

- When the plugin pulls the results for the given keyword it will store them locally (persistently) so any time that keyword is referenced again it will not need to ping Google again. In other words the plugin will always check locally to see if it already has the relevant related links before pinging Google.


And that is really it. If you are familiar with the Google Custom Search API I think this will be quite simple. If you are not familiar with the API then this project probably isn't for you.
