Project Purpose & Scope:
• Overview
Over the past 14 years StarChefs Magazine has been growing at a steady pace. StarChefs wants to overhaul and REPLACE its current Filemaker solution to integrate disparate data elements, streamline data entry, increase reporting capabilities, and build in business logic to reflect/automate current business practices.

Filemaker database currently contains approximately 15 tables and 9,536 records managing the following business functions:
o All Business Contacts
o Job Board Users
o Editorial Files
o Event Data
StarChefs expects the database to grow at a rate of 1500 - 1800 records per year

• Project Details

Database solution will accomplish the following:
o Revamp current database architecture to reflect current business requirements while accounting for security, performance and scalability.
o Provide streamlined data entry and dynamic presentation based on data relationships in the User Interface.
o Enforce and manage business rules and data dependencies
o Consolidate various databases of event attendees, web users, editorial tasting notes, chef interviews, recipes, and MS Outlook contacts
o Incorporate new reporting features, using Filemaker views to sort by profession, company, category, question ID, etc.
o Provide for migration of current database records to new database solution
o Provide for the importing of StarChef's E-Commerce data and select data entered via online forms and flat MS Office files
o Include a database backup and disaster recovery process
Project will be completed within 60 days of project kick off and include two weeks of user acceptance testing.

Audience
o Primary database users will be StarChefs staff

Project Verification
o StarChefs staff will provide final acceptance testing and sign off

Target Hardware, Software & Platform – Server
o FileMaker v 9 - WE DO NOT WANT TO USE FILEMAKER
o Linux v RedHat Enterprise Server
o Oracle v 10g
o Windows XP Pro Clients
o StarChefs.com will be using Drupal for the main site, considering Drupal for Jobfinder CMS

General Software and Hardware Standards to follow
o General industry standards will be used. Vendor will notify StarChefs when proposed solution elements deviate from industry standards

Software Source Code
o StarChefs will own all copies of source code and project artifacts to include but not limited to functional specifications, design documents, testing documents, and meeting notes

Training for end users
o Vendor will provide solution user guide and an end user training session to all StarChefs staff
