- Description: We are looking to have data from our company's website, which is currently using Google Analytics, entered into a PostgreSQL database which our marketing department would like to use for metrics.
The database must be updated at least once daily.
Some information we are looking to get out of Google Analytics include (but is not limited to):
- unique & total pageviews for all pages on the site
- average time on site per visitor
- visitor locations
- total clicks from any one page to another (as seen in G.A. site overlay)
- New vs. returning visitors
- and more...Additional Info (Added 10/6/2009 at 11:58 EST)...Updated requirements:
1. Unique Page views for each page on the site
2. Unique Page views for the entire site
3. Total Page views for each page on the site
4. Total Page views for the entire site (can be derived from #3)
5. Average Pages viewed per visit
6. Average time on site per visitor
7. New and returning visitors (probably ok with capturing IP addresses and determining new vs. returning from this data)
8. Bounce Rate
9. For each page, what links were clicked
We really would like to get this data as raw as possible. It's likely our marketing department will change their needs in the future and our requirements will change. Having the raw data will really help us in this effort. Additionally, marketing will possibly want to analyze the data for different periods (weekly, daily, monthly), so if the data is not presented in a format we can aggregate flexibly, it will not be of good use to us. - Tags:

| Jbl, I have extensive experience with PostgreSQL, including some heavy data parsing into it (my last project involved storing complete records of soccer games in Europe including all statistics etc.). Everything you mentioned in your post is doable and GA is the only limit here. I will also make sure that the parsing program is easily extendable for all future requests your marketing team has. My time estimate is a safety one: if we need to iron out any bugs/errors/misunderstadings. | |||||
