- Description: I am creating a social networking site for the College that I graduated from. It will be education based, much like facebook originally was. Here are some of the features I would like it to have
Profiles: Photos, personal info, class info, etc.
Updates: Much like twitter, real time updates
Classifieds: Sell books, tutoring services etc.
Chat Application: I want students and alumni to be able to chat with each other in real time, like the old Yahoo chat.
CMS for a Online News Paper: a simple CMS for a editor to upload news articles from around the college campuses.
Embedded Media Player: There are a few radio stations and I would like to be able to have the media player point to the link for each station at predetermined times.
Search Filters: I would like users to be able to search common interested, classes, campuses etc.
Unfortunately I am a recent college graduate so I am not made of money yet. I am looking for something more quick and dirty to get things running and can add additional functionality in the future if need be.
This site will be more about substance than flash and needs to be functional instead of looking pretty.
I have many other ideas that can be discussed once I get an idea of how much it would cost.
P.S. If the costs are astronomical, I know I can purchase pre made templates for social networking sites cheap (joomsocial, communa3) but I would prefer getting something more defined. - Tags:
