I am eager to find someone who can also design a site that allows users to view surgical videos, post their own videos, and engage in some interactivity with the site in Web 2.0 feel, such as message boards, real-time polls, perhaps chat, and other features to create an interactive community of doctors and a portal to our medical magazines.

An important aspect of the video portion of the site should be such things as the ability to jump to different chapters in the video (like a DVD menu), and turn on and off narration and/or subtitles/transcript. User should be able to download, rate, save, and comment on videos. There should be video rankings and statistics, and categorization of videos according to a hierarchical labeling and description scheme. Ability to maximize high-quality streaming video to full screen size is a plus.

The design should be sleek, elegant, and professional. eyetube.net comes to mind as a perfect example of what this site should be like and hopefully surpass in quality

On the software back-end side of things, I would want the job created in such a way that should any future modifications need to be made to the site, I could do them myself. Additional features of the site, such as ecommerce or other advanced features, can be added on in the future by whatever vendor I establish a relationship with, and I am looking for this long-term type of relationship.

Another aspect to the site should be a login page, username functionality, such that only logged-in users can access certain aspects of the site. We would need the username demographic information to be stored to an Excel spreadsheet or other easily accessible and manipulable database.

We would like the design of the site created as well, and this is a crucial aspect to the site as the first thing that will strike readers--well before the functionality and content--is the graphical design. Sites I like the feel and look of are: prosper.com and ning.com
