I have bought a link dump script, but i can only add items 1 by 1, and i'm looking for someone that can make an extra script to do BULK inserts in the database by importing a .txt file

Example:

To add an item manually i need to insert: Title, URL, Description, Image, Category, Publish Date, Status

Let's say i have an import.txt file with the following lines:

http://www.you.com/gal2/intex.php|Gallery Picture 2
http://www.next.com/g3/intex.php|Gallery Picture 3


In this example the import.txt only has 2 fields (URL and Title)
Line by Line the script should pick and add the URL, then sould add the Title, the Description field will be empty, the Category will be picked from a dropdown box or something like that (all items from an imported .txt file will ALL be added in the category selected, so there is no need to select a category for each URL of a .txt), publish date (immediately by default) and Status should be active by default too. The worst part should be the image, i need the script to read the URL and analyze it to pick a random image from each URL and then add it to the database, the random picture picked needs to be uploaded to the server to a common thumb folder, also it needs to give a random name to the picture file picked so that there aren't issues when uploading because the folder is the same for all thumb files. All galleries have about 10 to 20 images and a few more from the layout, the script should detect the most used name in all *.jpg files:

The script crawls one url of the import.txt file and detects the following thumbnails:

top.jpg

00010t.jpg
small.jpg

Obviously the pictures i need are those files that start with 0000*, so the script should detect the majority of the files that start with 0000, and then do a random to select only one of those and add it to the database and copy the thumb to the common thumbs folder in my server

NOTE: This isn't just for picture galleries... i need it for video galleries too. No need to integrate this script in the administration

NOTE: Some files imported may contain like 1000 urls , it doesn't matter how long those urls take to be added as long as the script inserts all of them correctly.


So, resuming:

- Import a .txt file with URL|Title
- Script reads each url and title of each line of that .txt
- Inserts Url, Title, description, thumb etc in the DB
- Script picks 1 random thumb from each URL and copies it do the common thumbs folder with a random name and adds it to the DB


It's up to you to find out the best and easiest way to do this.

The best way to pick the right thumbs will be by the size in pixels instead of the filename...
