Description: |
Spec for C++ project for reading data.
1. Open a socket connection.
2. Connect to data provider.
3. Using the API/SDK of the data provider, connect to various tables maintained by the provider.
4. Retrieve certain information (fields) from these tables.
5. Use this information to create various C++ objects.
6. Store these objects in a proprietary database already installed.
7. Connect to a real time stream of data from the data provider. This data will come in packets of typical size 100 bytes or less in a prescribed (by the data provider) format.
8. Read this data at a rate of up to 100,000 messages PER SECOND (!).
9. Store all raw messages in a mysql database or similar.
10. Use this data to create various C++ objects.
11. Store these objects in a proprietary database already installed.
12. FYI, the first data provider probably will be the MIS at Spryware, Inc. I think you can take a look at the API on their site spryware.comAdditional Info (Added 1/5/2009 at 22:32 EST)...
13.The code should be generic enough to easily change data providers. In particular it should have the ability to connect to a FIX based server. One possibility could be to convert the Spryware feed to FIX format and then convert that to the proprietary object based format That would kill two birds with one stone, but if you have a different idea, that's ok too.
14. Success on the task will lead to more work, with possible bonuses.
