Description: |
Overview:
BlackBerry application that will be used to collect basic information and send in batches when BlackBerry has signal. Each given entry within a batch will consist of a series of data fields (text/boolean) as well as a couple photos. Target platform will primarily be the Curve. The server the BlackBerry app will need to connect to is Microsoft based, so it is assumed the connection method will be a Web service (unless another viable solution is proposed).
Details:
- Application run primarily on BB Curve, but also may be run on Bold (9000)
- Would expect that the app would be written in BlackBerry JDE, but open to suggestions
- BlackBerry Enterprise Server not available
- App needs to be able to get information from a web server via a web service; this information may include basic config information or login checking
- Web service on server will be written in C#/.NET running on a Microsoft 2003 Server (it is possible that this could be developed in house should incumbent not have necessary skill)
- Application would require that it is somehow associated to a particular individual; this could be done in a similar way that Mobup works with Flikr or another suggested method
- Data includes text fields, checkboxes, and info in dropdown list
- As part of a data package, photos will also need to be uploaded
- Information would need to be sent to the Web server described above, likely though a web service (or suggestion?)
- An "entry" would typically consist of the data fields noted above along with 2-3 photos
- The information associated with an entry will likely not fit on a single screen; it is anticipated that it would involve 3 screens of data entry by the user
- Information is normally collected in batches (i.e. an "entry" would need to be stored to the BlackBerry, and then a batch upload of the data and the photos would occur when the user has an appropriate signal
- Once an upload is successful, the data associated with a batch on the local BlackBerry, along with the photos, should be removed in order to conserve space.
- Ideal would be to have a method by which the user can easily download application to the BlackBerry, or provide means of deploying updates

| Hello,
I have extensive background in programming for the blackberry. What you suggest would require knowledge of persistant storage on the blackberry (so data isn't lost while out of range).
I've made many applications for the blackberry and am a member of the RIM alliance. I'm sure I could create any application you'd like.
