We have a Public Relations company that wants to create an interactive form site using Ajax or Ruby on Rails. Their goal is to give their clients the ability to register for the site do one of three things:
1. Create their own press release with an interactive form and submit it for distribution.
2. Create their own press release, have it edited by the PR firm's editors (site "manager" role) and have those edits be designated in some fashion and be "accepted" or "rejected" via an action by the user.
3. Choose from numerous "pre-written" press releases. When one is chosen, the user can "Import" it into the tool and edit it.
The site will also need to have the following functions:
1. E-Commerce system with subscriptions and tokens: The customers will become subscribers of varying levels. We will also want to issue them tokens to use for the purchase of products or services within the system
2. Workflow hierarchy: we will need editor, manager, admin and super admin roles and be able to assign duties to each of these roles.
3. Each user will be able to have a database of their "contacts". These are the people they want to send their press releases out to. It's important that this DB does not require an email address as some of these contacts will receive the press release via traditional mail.
4. The admins will need to be able to IMPORT and EXPORT any user information including their list of custom contacts.
5. The admins will need to be able to IMPORT and EXPORT press releases via Microsoft Word or other text documents. Export function should also include conversion of a Word Document to PDF including graphics.
6. The press release editor should allow for templates to be imported by the user or the admin and selected at will. These templates should be products that can be either included in a subscription, assigned a price or awarded to a user by the admin.
There are many other features as well, but this may best be discussed on the PMB! Our hope is to build this on top of a CMS like Joomla so we can cut some of their cost down on that portion
