Hello everyone! Here are the details to my project...

I need someone that is trained in the art of inventory systems. Let me explain...

My name is Evan and I'm a web designer. In my local town there is a shop on Main Street called "Sully's Boardsports". It's a typical skate/snowboard shop with tons of nice clothes, hats, watches, sunglasses, snowboards, skateboards and all kinds of stuff. Think of a store like "West 49". That's what it's like.

Anyway, I have been hired by the owner to come up with a "pre-made" system that needs to be purchased and integrated or find someone to "customize" some sort of inventory system that can be installed onto his store computers. This system must have its products manually (or scanned) into the database. Here's the catch... His stores inventory system program/setup must be hooked up directly to the website that I'm creating for the store.

For Example. We put the entire stores inventory into the program. Then this program will automatically update the inventory when someone purchases a product off of this website. The purchases will be made through paypal or a merchant account of some sort. If a T-Shirt has an inventory of setup in the inventory program. Only 13 will be available online as well as in his store.

I make it sound a little more confusing and hectic than it really should be. I'm sure something like this exists somewhere. I'm sure there can be some sort of database file that can be sent over to the website database file and update it.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? This is the real deal and we need to get going on this asap. We will escrow the payment.

Thanks everyone!I was thinking it over and here is another simple description of what I'm looking for...

Let’s put it this way. My client has staff that will be running the store. At the checkout counter they will have a checkout computer that can they can use to punch in the product number on the tag of the product. They may even have a scanner that will scan a bar code on the product.

A customer comes to the checkout desk with a nice Snowboarding T-Shirt. The staff scans it or enter the tag number in the computer. Then the customer pays and completes the sale on the computer. I will need the inventory on their computer to automatically be updated on the website and on the store computer so the staff knows how many of those T-Shirts they have left. If the system shows a shirt that is coded as "Snowboard T-Shirt" (Quantity: 6) and someone purchases it. The system has to automatically change that number to (Quantity: 5) on the website and on the store computer so they know there is only 5 left. It's quite simple when you think about it...
