I have a creative educational site written in PHP/MySQL/Javascript/AJAX/CSS that needs some visual enhancements. The changes should not take much time, but I would like to use some technologies that really add some pizzazz and snap to the site, like AJAX (the site uses some Scriptaculous and other elements already). All changes must fit into the existing code scheme and use CVS. I'm looking for a designer/programmer with an eye for clean code and design.
If this project is successful, I will likely offer other projects that involve making the existing site completely CSS compliant (right now, the site uses some tags, etc., in addition to CSS), and create entirely new themes for the site that are colorful and fun and targeted toward creative students. If you'd like to include in your bid an offer to complete the CSS modification now, or create a sample theme, please let me know.
Specifically I need the following as part of this project, more details on which will be sent to interested programmers (including access to the site itself to see the changes needed):
1. Simple visual change involving the background of the application's workspace. Right now, the workspace lacks a true border, which makes the page look sloppy. Depending on the solution, this should be very simple to complete.
2. Centering of workspace elements in a visually appealing way. Again, a simple fix taking only a few minutes.
3. Using AJAX for a ranking system. Right now, the ranking page uses simple html in table form. Users rank a series of entries on a scale of 1-10. I'd like to look into enhancing this process using latest DHTML techniques. All entries should be updated as entered, and allow for multiple users to rank without destroying others' entries. (This will make more sense when you see the site).
4. More visually appealing layout for page that shows user's work. I already have a CSS template that is used an another page on the site that you can apply to this page. So the changes should not take long to do.
5. Fix bug with existing AJAX element -- a pop-up window that sometimes does not close, and at other times does not open.
6. Provide visual enhancement for the AJAX pop-up window described in #5.
This is a very creative site/app that is quite unique, and different than the ordinary PHP/MySQL site. The project will allow the designer/programmer great opportunity to showcase creative skills and apply problem solving abilities.
