Customizing a theme in WP

- Description: Installed theme called Essence from ithemes dot com. I need
1. the front page to be modified so that there are two columns. Larger left column and a smaller right column.
2. When posting blogs, I don't want the dates to appear and hide comment option.
The front panel has already been removed.
If you are familiar with CSS and/or PHP, this should NOT take more than 20 min to do.
I've several ongoing small jobs like this. If you are interested in regular work, please look at theme and if you feel confident you can do this please bid. Please make sure when you are working on these changes all other aspects of the theme remain in tact.
