Hello,
My team and I are creating a website (all the basic design is nearly complete) and we need a little help with the four items below. We're comfortable with web design, though not as savvy with some of the site's programming aspects. That being said, a number of my friens have told me that these are relatively simple tasks for an experienced programmer.
1. Incorporate some AJAX code into our site (we've already had the code completed/tested, MySQL with simple CMS back-end). It's basically a pseudo dropdown/text entry box.
2. Implement/set cookies for two areas of our site (areas that reference recently visited websites and the user's group affiliation). For example, if the user clicks through to another site from ours, that website should display in the left margin of the site (for their recently visited sites). Separately, users must select a group to affiliate with, and once they've done so, that too should display in the left margin.
3. Take two pop-up boxes that we've created and make it so that the appropriate one displays before they leave our site. One pop-up will be displayed if they've already selected their group affiliation. Alternatively, the site should know if they haven't yet done so, and in that case, our second pop-up box should instead be displayed (at which point they're then required to select their group).
4. We have a small icon that we would like to display in both the address and tab segments of users' Internet browsers (think along the lines of facebook's blue/white "f" logo that displays while you're on the site).
My regrets if I haven't explained everything clearly. Please make sure you ask any questions you may have before bidding. We'll have the last of our design work completed by Sunday night (I'm in the Pacific time zone), so you should be able to begin then. I typically try and reply to messages between 6-11pm (again, US Pacific Time). Hopefully this works well for you, though I sometimes have brief periods throughout the rest of the day when I can reply as well. Lastly, please provide portfolio examples of similar cookie work that you've completed so we know that you understand the task.
If the project is completed on time, communication runs smoothly and the work looks great, we'll definitely look to throw in a small bonus payment as well (our little extra way of saying thanks!)

Additional Info (Added 11/21/2008 at 1:28 EST)...My regrets, I forgot to mention that we would like the tasks completed within 2-4 days...which should be well sufficient for the desired tasks (and understanding that you're likely working on a number of other projects as well).
