Have a look at www.metropix.com these guys have an ASP online software product that lets you create floorplans of residential properties very quickly online.
This is what we want.
Metropix take things one step further and give you an option to turn the floorplan into a 3D virtual walkthrough. We do not need this we just want an online ASP to produce floorplans.
Another reference is a company called www.themobileagent.co.uk who produce floorplan software. Mobile agent only have this available to use on desktops or handheld computers i.e they have the right type of product but it is not available online. We basically want a copy of this software but that works online like metropix.
Another reference would be www.smartdraw.com
The metropix floorplans are the closest to what we are looking for. the key is it has to be really quick and easy to use and I believe the metropix floor plans can work on a palmtop as well- impotantly I think you can be online and start a floor plan - go offline into the property to finish it - come back online and upload it.
use references/reverse engineer/clone what they do...whatever, but very importantly at the end of the project we need to own the IP to all the software and code.
