How to have a successful experience at ScriptLance
Follow these tips to get your programming projects done quickly, efficiently and with maximum results.Buyers |
Programmers |
| Communication | Cummunicate with the programmers before and after you choose a bid.
The #1 reason for failed projects is lack of communicating your demands. Before you choose a bid, contact the programmers you're interested in and discuss what you need, what they can offer you, what skills they have, what experience they have with this type of project, etc. Don't just assume a programmer is the best choice based on their bid; Talk to them and weed out the unqualified bidders.
You can instantly send messages to programmers using your project message board (links can be found on your project page).
Communicate with potential and current clients. Do not assume you know what they want. Don't be afraid to ask questions to find out exactly what work needs to be completed. They will appreciate your interest in the details and will know you are a serious bidder.
Use the project message board to send messages to buyers (links can be found on the project page).
| Payments | Decide on payment terms before your project begins.
Do not make advance payments. Beware of programmers who request payments outside of ScriptLance (e.g. Western Union). Use the ScriptLance Escrow system to keep your funds safe until work has been delivered by the programmer. If you fail to do this ScriptLance will be unable to help you retrieve disputed payments; All payments are considered final.
Decide on payment terms before your project begins. Mention in your bid that you require payment via escrow.
Do not begin work until funds have been placed into ScriptLance Escrow for you. Be wary of clients who refuse to use escrow, but understand their concerns; Explain to them how ScriptLance Escrow works and suggest that they place at least a small portion of your bid in escrow.
| Milestones | Create and use milestones to track the status of your project each step of the way. This will greatly increase the odds of success.
| Updates | Ask your programmer for status updates throughout the project. Keep your project running on track by making sure the work you need is being done. Ask for a demonstration before you complete your escrow payment.
Provide status updates to your client. Let them know what you have done and show them demos at key points during the work. This will assure that you understand their demands for the project.
| Ratings | Do not rate/review your programmer until your project is completed and delivered. Beware of programmers who demand a good rating before work has begun. You cannot change your review once it's submitted.
Do not rate/review your client until your project is completed and payment has been received. You cannot change your review once it's submitted. Do not request a review before the project is completed, your account may be suspended by ScriptLance staff.
| Violations | Report violations and suspicious activity to ScriptLance support and don't hesitate to ask us for advice.
| Disputes | Follow the guidelines described above to avoid disputes. In addition, we suggest you always communicate via the project message board, because ScriptLance staff can easily reference those messages during dispute resolution.
