Started working on the project. Than stopped, said that it is much difficult that he thought, asked for more time. Than said that he doesn't feel well and needs to quit the project. Didn't return the money we paid him.

I would highly recommend avoiding this programmer. I have not been able to contact him for days. I have sent multiple emails with no response. He did not complete any portion of the project, and the last time I did speak with him, he gave me the feeling that he had no understanding of the project, in which case he should not have bid if he did not understand what I wanted.
